The Daily Orange

The Daily Orange is the independent student newspaper of Syracuse, N.Y.

I worked as presentation director at The Daily Orange from May 2015 to May 2016. In this position, I managed a staff of six print designers, one web designer and one illustrator. I planned all art for online and our four daily print editions a week. I art directed and designed the news, sports and feature sections of the paper, as well as many special editions. Prior to working as presentation director, I spent two years working as a design editor of the paper.

Scribbles

While I was presentation director, I regularly illustrated “scribbles” for the editorial section of the paper. My favorite was this illustration of the Daily Orange’s house on 744 Ostrom Ave. After this ran in print, it was sold on merchandise for fundraising and it was used in the daily print front-of-book with the masthead for several years.

Donation Video

Since 1973, The D.O. has been independent, which means it receives no funding from the university. Because of this, it relies heavily on donations to supplement its ad sales. I storyboarded, illustrated, animated and produced this video about how to donate to The D.O.
